Scientific background:
- A study investigated the effects of different proportions of spirulina in the supplementary feeding of Neocaridina shrimp with regard to fertility (Kohal et al., 2017): A certain proportion of spirulina independently led to higher fertility (more eggs per female), as well as higher hatching rates, higher survival rates and higher growth rates of the shrimp hatchlings.
- Algae experiments in our facility have shown: Caridina shrimps have slightly different nutrient requirements and usually do not "like" certain algae additives such as spirulina & Co.
- Therefore, these algae additives, which are very beneficial for Neocaridina, have been outsourced to the GARNELEN4YOU® Neo Algae Sticks
- With the help of the Neo Algae Sticks, the recommended amount of spirulina in the diet of Neocaridina is reproduced if these sticks are fed every third time (i.e. alternating with GARNELEN4YOU® Carny & Planty Sticks).
Other features:

Neo Algae Sticks – Growth & Reproduction Booster for Neocaridina Shrimp
The Neo Algae Sticks have been specially developed for Neocaridina shrimps, whose nutritional requirements differ slightly from Caridina shrimps. While certain algae additives such as spirulina are often accepted rather moderately by Caridina, Neocaridina has been shown to benefit particularly from them. This is exactly why these particularly effective algae components have been specifically outsourced to their own main food: the GARNELEN4YOU Neo Algae Sticks!
The scientifically coordinated algae-herb recipe promotes growth, fertility and reproduction in Neocaridina shrimp. An underlying study (Kohal et al., 2017) clearly shows that a certain proportion of spirulina in the diet of Neocaridina leads to more eggs per female, higher hatching rates, higher survival rates and higher growth rates of the shrimp juveniles. The Neo Algae Sticks have been formulated in such a way that this effect can be reproduced – if the Neo Algae Sticks are fed with Planty & Carny Sticks alternately every third time.
Through the highest quality ingredients, algae experiments in our cultivation facility and a strictly scientific development strategy, the Neo Algae Sticks achieve an extremely high level of acceptance and effectiveness. In addition to spirulina, nettle, seaweed and chlorella also provide natural iodine, vegetable protein, omega-3 fatty acids, carotenoids, minerals, trace elements and vitamins of groups B, C, E and K – essential building blocks for fertility and reproduction – and the animals love it.
As with all GARNELEN4YOU types of food, we consistently avoid fishmeal, grain meal and significant sources of sugar or carbohydrates. This keeps the water clear, the conductivity stable and the "germ density" low. The sticks do not break down too quickly or too slowly, making them the ideal compromise for safe, clean feeding.
In combination with the Carny and Planty Sticks, you can also flexibly control the ratio of animal and plant parts as well as the protein content yourself - depending on growth, stocking or personal feeding strategy.
